La Barriere Park

Today we spent the afternoon at La Barriere Park. It was a beautiful, hot day with blue skies and only a light breeze... the perfect day for kayaking. I had come to La Barriere earlier this summer (mid-July) and kayaked the La Salle River but decided against taking the camera with me. Naturally (because I didn't have the camera) I got a great look at a Cooper's Hawk along the shore, a Bald Eagle just meters away checking us out from a snag on the shore, a Belted Kingfisher who flew low over us twice, as well as some Great Crested Flycatchers who were showing off their flying skills over the river. Needless to say I made sure to take the camera the second time. While the Cooper's Hawks, Kingfishers, and Flycatchers made more subdued appearances I was able to record my first Eastern Wood-Pewee of the year and was also blessed to get a great look at an Osprey and two Bald Eagles! Here are some photos below.

Hope you enjoyed this rather short and random post! Enjoy the rest of the summer (we'll see if I have time to post again)!
